We're Recruiting! HYC Applications Open Now For East Auckland Youth

Open Seat applications extended to close at 11:59pm on Tuesday 6th October 2020.

As 2020 comes to an end, we’re so proud of what the group has achieved this year. Faced with a unique challenge dealing with COVID-19, everyone has fought through adversity.

We’ve seen the difficulties rangatahi in our community have faced and worked hard to deliver opportunities that have supported youth through this crisis.

While there are still more events and opportunities to come, we are excited to announce that we are now opening applications for the 2021 Howick Youth Council!

These positions are open to anyone aged 12 to 24 living, studying or working in Howick, Pakuranga, Botany and Ormiston -- otherwise the area covered by the Howick Local Board.

Our focuses range from advocacy on both local and regional issues, however, our priority is to empower East Auckland's youth.

We allow members to collaborate and learn with other like-minded individuals to grow their leadership capabilities. Through the projects our members organize we aim to create connections within our diverse community and engage with young people on issues that are important to them.

As East Auckland’s future leaders, entrepreneurs and voters, it's important to build a sense of community within our young people by creating connections between schools that will prepare for better relationships outside of a young person's schooling.

Thus, this is an incredible opportunity to join one of the largest youth councils in Auckland and gain leadership skills that will set you apart.

If you’re interested in being part of a group of motivated young people dedicated to amplify our youth voice, to create a more connected community, and to organise projects to equip and engage youth, then apply at youth.org.nz/hycopenapply

If you are interested in communications including social media, graphic design, journalism, or videography and photography you might want to apply to be a member of the Howick Youth Council communications team. Apply at youth.org.nz/hycommsapply

We will then review written applications and invite a group for interviews from which new members will be selected. We look forward to hearing from you!
