ICYMI: Wrapping up HYC for 2019

The last few weeks have been a busy few for HYC — with our 2019 Annual Review, Youth Awards, Leadership Handover and the first part of our 2020 Induction. Read on to learn more, in case you missed it.

2020 Induction Part One

Last Saturday, the new leadership team held its first event, in the form of a day-long induction for new and returning members going into 2020.

The event, held at our home, Te Tuhi Centre For the Arts, was a day full of fun activities to help 2020 members bond as well as opportunities for new members to learn about the youth council's structure and what the year ahead will look like.

The 2020 leadership team would like to thank local board member David Collings as well as our council broker Asma Bashir for popping in during the day — we'd also like to thank some of our leadership team forerunners from prior years, who joined us for some of the day's activities.

New website

It's what you're reading right now! Our new website provides a centralised hub for everything HYC, from event information, to our written resources and multimedia — serving a clear goal to help with the youth council's vision of connecting within our community.

On that note, this will be our final update for 2019 and so the leadership team would like to take a moment to thank the community for its continued support of the youth council.

Our activities make east Auckland a more attractive and vibrant place for its young people and we couldn't do it without the support of our broader community and the Howick Local Board.

Happy holidays. Ngā mihi nui.
