Are you interested in studying marketing, communications? Have a graphics design or photography passion? Well, the youth council's communications team is offering an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with media, promotional work and communications.
The communications team on the youth council works to support the promotions and outreach of the council. There are a wide range of tasks that you might have to do in the role, including social media, design work, writing, photography and videography.
A lot of this includes figuring out how to improve the outreach of the youth council and to improve the reach of our projects.
The role within the council is quite different to other roles on HYC as you'll primarily be here to help support the projects of the council.

These projects include the annual Howick Youth Summit, Visual Arts Showcase and many others — learn more about these on our projects page.
This means less ownership over the work you produce, but you get to work with every team during their final stages of delivering their projects.

You also get the opportunities to have some ownership over comms-initiated projects like our logo project: Looking for a design gig? Help design HYC's new logo
If you are looking to add to your portfolio, develop real transferable skills, and be a part of the vibrant youth council, then consider applying to be a member of the 2022 Howick Youth Council Communications Team.
The Howick Youth Council is a volunteer group proudly supported by the Howick Local Board.
